“Kazakhstan is either an Islamic state or a country with no religious life”
Misleading. Islam is important to Kazakhstan's history and population, but the constitution defines the state as secular and protects freedom of religion. Neither an Islamic-state label nor a claim that religion is absent describes the country well.
