Why this exists
Stereotypes about Kazakhstan travel faster than context. Qazaq Lens creates short, linkable explanations for international readers who want to distinguish comedy, shorthand and assumptions from sourced information about a real country.
Who runs it
Qazaq Lens was created and is maintained by Nurlanuly Dulat. The project is an independent, solo-built evidence library with a connection to Kazakhstan and an interest in careful public communication about the country.
It is not a government project, tourism campaign or newsroom. That limitation is stated openly because a solo editor can miss context that a diverse editorial team would catch. The public code and issue tracker are available on GitHub.
What it does not claim
Qazaq Lens does not speak for Kazakhstan's government, every citizen, every ethnic community or every Kazakh person abroad. It also does not treat criticism of Kazakhstan as automatically false. The project addresses specific checkable claims and labels interpretation separately.
How trust is earned
Every substantial article exposes its claim ledger, source IDs, review status, last source-review date and change history. Public-beta material is not presented as independently reviewed.
Editorial identity and conflicts
The editor is Nurlanuly Dulat. Qazaq Lens is currently unfunded and has no government, political-party or commercial sponsor. Any future funding, institutional relationship or conflict that could affect editorial judgment will be disclosed on this page. Independent reviewers will be named or identified by stable pseudonym when they formally review an article.
