Kazakhstan's Capital Is Astana, Not Almaty

OUTDATED: The capital of Kazakhstan is Almaty

Myth examined

“The capital of Kazakhstan is Almaty”

Outdated. Almaty was the capital of Soviet Kazakhstan and remained Kazakhstan's capital until 1997, when the government moved to a new city built on the northern steppe. That city has since been called Akmola, Astana, Nur-Sultan and then Astana again.
